Pitching Perfect

Duckies was a project pitch for a client dealing with blue-collar work gear and equipment, seeking opportunities to enhance the experience of their customers not only in their shopping but also with their work. We began by conducting interviews with target demographics to create overarching user archetypes.

Who Are the Users

The Worker

The worker is primarily interested in Duckies’ workwear line. They tend to lean towards in store shopping experiences, however they are not opposed to shopping online. One important factor to the worker is being able to gauge how long their product will last.

The Trendsetter

The trendsetter is interested in Duckies products as a fashion statement. They tend to consist of a younger audience and shop both online and in-store.

Insights From ReSearch

What We Heard from Customers

  • Sizes are difficult to figure out

  • Current inability to test equipment

  • Lack of personalized shopping experience

  • Lack of product knowledge and retail locations

  • Communication easily breaks down on customer job sites

What competitors are doing

  • Allows customers to send in apparel or gear they no longer want so it can be recycled into new fabric

  • Allows customers to send in products for repairs, free of charge

  • Also has a traveling repair truck where customers can bring their Patagonia apparel for mending

The Final Concepts

After exploring various options for differentiated experiences based on the research, we presented various ideas surrounding mobile shopping, web, in-store shopping, and pop-up store experiences as well as a reimagined product life cycle.
